Workplace Violence: The Emotional and Financial Impact of an Active Shooter Event

Thursday 1:45 – 2:45 PM

Session Description

Based on a historical analysis the reality of workplace violence is that the threat starts from within. Understanding that disgruntled employees and domestic partners are the two most likely perpetrators of violence in the workplace is fundamental in understanding how to prepare a response plan. Key to every incident is quick and accurate notification to building occupants and law enforcement. Just as important is an understanding of the best practices for escaping, evading and protection. New emergency trauma care training is essential to reduce casualties and easy to teach staff. These three components can reduce casualties and mitigate liability in the event a crisis occurs.
